The company

Grapa Teatro is a Denmark-based theatre company founded by the Spanish artists Gracia Ríos and Pablo Lara. With a background in acting and music, we’ve worked together since 2013, creating performances that blend physical theatre, live music and social activism.

Our work often explores themes like LGBT+ rights, feminism, and rural development, and features instruments such as the clarinet, violin, and voice. Grapa Teatro has toured internationally and premiered their first original musical, Cupid's call, at Holstebro Pride 2023.

Our logo

During the Second World War, prisoners in Nazi concentration camps were forced to wear downward-pointing, equilateral triangular cloth badges on their chests. The color of each badge indicated the reason for imprisonment. Among these, the pink triangle was used to identify homosexual men—a label that, at the time, also encompassed bisexual men and transgender women.

Beginning in the 1970s, the pink triangle was reclaimed as a symbol of resistance, pride and solidarity by LGBTQ+ communities. Today, it stands as a powerful reminder of both the suffering endured and the resilience shown.

As a company, the pink triangle represents our commitment not only to LGBTQ+ rights, but to all individuals and collectives whose stories deserve to be seen, heard, and honored. It serves as a symbol of our dedication to creating a space where every voice matters and where social activism and creativity meet on stage.

"I am confident that they will contribute innovative, meaningful, and empowering ideas and experiences to any initiative they take part in"
Sergio García - Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium Copenhagen

Our mission

Rooted in feminist and LGBTQ+ values, our mission is to challenge taboos, amplify underrepresented voices and build inclusive spaces for dialogue and expression. Through playful, powerful and participatory storytelling, we aim to connect communities, encourage critical thinking and celebrate the beauty of diversity — on and off the stage.

Our vision

At Grapa Teatro, our vision is to use the stage as a platform for social change: we choose theatre because it’s live, direct and human — it invites connection, demands presence and allows us to explore complex issues like gender, identity and justice with nuance, humor and heart. Through performance, we aim not only to entertain, but to spark reflection, conversation and social awareness.
